Is Synhop free?
Yes. The daily puzzle is free. You can play as a guest without an account. Creating a free account lets you save streaks, join leaderboards, and keep history. Synhop Plus is optional if you want unlimited practice, archive access, and no in-game ads.
What counts as a valid synonym?
Each hop must be closely related in meaning to the word above it. Synhop checks guesses against a synonym graph built from WordNet and additional validation. Topic association alone is not enough - the link should feel like a genuine substitute in meaning.
How many hops do I get?
You get up to seven hops to reach the goal. Using fewer hops is better for daily rankings. You might finish in three or four if you find a sharp path.
What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak resets to zero. You can still play the new daily puzzle and start a fresh streak. Difficulty unlocks again after a reset so you can choose a new challenge level.
Why is difficulty locked during a streak?
So the year-long journey stays comparable for you and fair on streak-related boards. If you want a different difficulty, you can reset the streak from your profile - that choice cannot be undone.
Do I need an account?
No. Guests can play today's puzzle. An account is only needed to save progress across devices, keep a streak, set a leaderboard name, or subscribe to Synhop Plus.
Where do ads appear?
Free accounts may see Google ads after finishing a daily game and a desktop banner on some pages. Synhop Plus removes those in-game placements. Ads never replace the puzzle itself.
How is my data used?
We use account and game data to run Synhop - streaks, leaderboards, practice limits, and optional reminders. Advertising partners may use cookies for free accounts where allowed. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
